Dell Canada = Worst Customer Service Ever

Dell Canada has managed to really grind my gears… 2 months to deliver a laptop? Are you frikkin kidding me?!

We ordered a new Dell Studio 14 laptop on 2nd February, only to have it cancelled – without any notice – about a week later, due to a “parts shortage.” Luckily, we checked the website a few days later, discovered what had happened and placed the order again – note, of course, no hint of apology or caring from Customer Service.

So, the new order is placed and a ship date of 25th February is promised. It’s now 3rd March and – you can probably tell where this is going – the laptop is still “in production.” Cue 35 minute phone call to Dell, first talking to a Customer Service agent, who couldn’t give a crap, was downright unhelpful and outright lied to me about when our laptop is due to ship (he said it would ship in about 3 day’s time). Next (when I said I wanted to make a complaint) came the Sales Agent who had taken the second order. He was a bit more sympathetic, but couldn’t do much other than offer a pitiful 2% discount and promise to expedite shipping – from 29th March!

Wait, what? The twenty-ninth of WHEN?! I… But… Twenty…

That’s right, two bloody months for a laptop. I could have picked up a new Core i7 from Future Shop 6 weeks ago… Lenovo is looking more appealing right now, even with their daft keyboard layout.

So, in summary, if your thinking about ordering a Dell, don’t, unless you’re very patient. And as for their customer service, I think it could well be this season’s shark cartilage enema.

By the by, don’t bother trying to contact Dell Canada via any number other than 1-800-999-3355; every other number I’ve found on their website doesn’t work. Go figure.
